Nigeria Farmers Problems

Spoilt Cucumber

All these heaps are demaged cucumber fruits from one farmer alone! According to the farmer cucumber worth over N20,000 are wasted because some insects  came off the ground and punched holes on the cucumber shortly before harvesting. Insectcides were applied but according to the farmer it would work as long as there is no rain! As soon as it rains it washes away the insecticde. Please if you have any solution to this farmer and countless others please make your comment at the comment section it would sure reach the farmer in question.

Challenges of Cat Fish Farming in Nigeria It is not news that 1kg of cat fish harvested in China frozen and transported to Nigeria still sell below $1:50! Well you may say that farmers in china are exposed to perhaps superior technology but what can you say of farmers in Gambia who sell same 1kg of cat fish for less than $2:00 as against about $2:5 to $3:00 same 1kg sales by Nigeria farmers on the average! Well if the Nigeria farmer is going to sell to Nigerians alone that may not be too much problem but Nigeria cat fish farmers must never abandon the international market in fact the ultimate aim of the Nigeria cat fish farmer is to export either frozen fish or processed dried fish either filleted or not. That brings us to what the government and the fish farmers must do to reposition the fortunes of the Nigeria cat fish farmers. It is imperative the government in particular the ministry of agriculture must look into the cost of the major cat fish farming impute; the cat fish food! Cat fish food is too high as such the ministry of agriculture and the research institutes must look into the production of fish food and ensure that its cost is eventually reduced in addition to free fingerings to farmers. In the alternative the government must consider seriously subsidizing the cat fish food for the cat fish farmers. This is doable and must be tackled with all zeal to move our cat farmers forward. On the part of the Nigeria cat fish farmers they must get as much information as possible about cat fish but they must endeavour to employ available technologies to reduce cost of bringing up the fish. In particular, the technology of using bottle oxygen to supplement oxygen for the cat fish. Though the raw oxygen cannot be assimilated by the fish but when it is pumped into water and it bubbles it turns the raw oxygen into a form that the cat fish can easily assimilate. This cannot be under estimated because this singular use of oxygen can reduce turnaround time of your cat fish by almost 50%! Now look at it this way if oxygen reduces turnaround time of your cat fish it implies that you have also succeeded in reducing the amount spent on feeding by 50% and that will eventually bring down the cost of final product by a considerable percentage! The possibility of the combination of government intervention and use of oxygen by farmers will definitely result in strategic reduction of price of cat fish in Nigeria perhaps below $2! With this the possibility of Nigeria cat fish farmers breaking into the export market will be guaranteed! IGWEGBE LAWRENCE

Dwindling Crude oil Price and Survival of the Nigeria State!

Dwindling Crude oil Price and Survival of the Nigeria State! No doubt President Jonathan acted wisely and timely to start in time to re-position of the nations economy. Though the Nigerian ruling Class had in the past showed complete irresponsibility as regards using the crude oil money to re-position moribund sectors of our economy that should actually be the nation’s life line! Have you thought about this my fellow citizen that while we have been getting merely 40 to 60% of a barrel of crude oil that is sold at a mere $100 our farmers would be getting 100% of palm oil and ground nut oil sold between $160 to $210! Can you close your eye and imagine the kind of affluence our farmers and the Nigeria state would be enjoying when the palm sector is reformed in a way Nigeria sells between one million barrels of palm and groundnut oil to 2.5 million barrel of same product!? It would be great! Won’t it? President Jonathan through the fine minister of agriculture is investing heavily in distributing free nursling of improved palm variety each year. What are you waiting for? Consider the incredible profit that would come your way and our country when you invest in improved variety of palms, These are palm threes that start production in less than three years and yield two to three times what local palms could do . I a year you can harvest it three to four time what you do with local palms and what of palm oil yield at least 2 to three times what local palms could do and what is more it takes little space of land. Can you close your eye and imagine you having just an acre or even half acre of land filled with improved palm three that just two and half years from now you need just a small kitchen chair and a small not two sharp cutlass to harvest thousands of palm heads per production circle. In fact even if you invested your money you would have recovered and start making real profit from year two. If you do what is needful and access Federal government free palms it means that two and half years from now you would be smiling to your banks with amazing profits! Now what do you do to access government free palm just land! Then go and register as a farmer! Where do you register? Go to any Federal ministry of agriculture office in your state and register! Just as simple as that! What do you present as document, just your national ID card copy or copy of international passport or just copy of your voters card/ Simple ! Isn’t it? For those in Lagos area Federal ministry of agriculture is at Oko Oba Area if you are coming from Abule Egba same side with Lagos state abattoir. Just immediately after the abattoir you see their bold sign board. You drive in to the left it is close to Road Safety office in Oko Oba. After the successful registration you will be provided with your e-wallet. With that you can get any free thing the government is giving including highly subsidized fertilizer. The next this you do is to register in the appropriate cooperative of the farm product or products you are doing. Very vital! Fear citizen we must help our selves and our nation to be truly financial independence and also create real wealth. Igwegbe Lawrence Emeka

Pig Farming-High Profits!!!

Hi Farmers and potential farmers, have you considered the profit potential of pig farming!? a Yorkshire white pig could reach maturity within 13 to 33 months and the male of it could reach a staggering weight of 300 to 450kg while the female could reach a weight of 20 to 350kg! You can guess how much such a heavy pig could sale for. What is more the Yorkshire white is capable of 10 to 12 litter at once. You can take them to maturity or you may after weaning sell then or some of them off as piglets for early recovery of money and instant profit! Tips pigs have very low tolerance for heat and could easily dye because of heat so they must be kept in a highly ventilated enclosure that has no kind of impediment of air all the time. To further reduce their heat you need to pour water on them as often as you can but twice in the day is Ok once in awhile you bath the body of the pigs to constantly keep them clean. recall that why pigs roll them self in the mud is to cool their body temperature so apart from splashing water on their bodies every day you must provide within their enclosure a sizable make shift bat tub where the pig would constantly wade into. Who wouldn't be hot with the amount of fat in the body of the pig!? Move up to profit unimaginable with your pigs and piglets!
